About Us

Are you passionate about your horse’s health and well-being and seeking an alternative way to get the best for your horse?

Horses are our companions, our friends, we often build lifelong relationships with them. But living away from their natural habitat (think Russian Steppes or the American West) and in a domestic environment, can have an impact on their health and well-being.

I learnt to ride growing up as a teenager in the High Country of the South Island, where I spent many hours exploring the shoreline and surrounds of Lake Tekapo in the company of fellow teenage horse enthusiasts. Anyone familiar with the terrain of the high country will know how barren, dry and rocky the ground is – yet I can’t ever remember anyone being unable to ride because their horse was lame or sick.

My experiences with my own horses over the years and the challenges of keeping domestic horses in a modern setting, made me want to try different ways and methods of helping them to stay happy and healthy. Being naturally curious, I began to wonder what are the optimal methods to ensure healthy sound horses.

My passion (or obsession!) for being with horses and understanding how they live alongside of us (the most unusual of predator/prey relationships) has never left me.

We all want the best for our horses, and for them to live happy, contented and healthy lives. Time constraints, family commitments, financial and work pressures often combine to make it difficult to do our best. However there is a way forward.

Herbs are the oldest form of medicine we know. Using the right herbs in the right way for each horse can have a powerfully positive effect on their health and well-being. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a horse return to, or gain, a higher level of health, fitness and well-being.

Seeing the way horses respond to herbal support and positive changes in their management encouraged me to completed a Diploma in Clinical Herbal Medicine where I was fortunate to study and treat humans, horses and other domestic and companion animals.

I have over 30 years’ experience in riding, training and caring for horses. Combined with my comprehensive knowledge of herbs, herbal medicine and how these can be applied to our horses, my mission is to help owners, help their horses.
